Rubber Additives & Compounding Chemicals
Chemipat Ltd is a UK manufacturer of rubber additives and rubber compounding chemicals. From our Salford factory we produce polymer-bound rubber additives – vulcanization additives, accelerators, antioxidants, blowing agents, retarders, flame retardants and adhesion promoters – for compounders across the UK and Europe.
Rubber compounding additives we supply
A rubber compound is built from a base polymer plus a carefully balanced package of additives. Our range covers the key chemical additives, all supplied as dust-free polymer-bound masterbatches:
| Additive type | What it does | Chemipat grades |
|---|---|---|
| Vulcanizing agents | Form the cross-links that turn raw rubber into an elastic, durable material. | S 80E, S 75SBR, S 75NBR, IS 50E–IS 75E, ZNO 80E/85E |
| Accelerators | Speed up vulcanization and improve the state of cure. | CBS, TBBS, MBT, MBTS, TMTD, TBzTD, ZDEC, ZDBC, ZDMC, DPG |
| Sulphur donors | Release sulphur during cure for heat-resistant, efficient cure systems. | DTDM 80E, TBzTD, TMTD, DPTT, DPTH |
| Retarders | Delay the onset of cure to prevent scorch during processing. | CTPI 80E, CTPI 80SBR |
| Antioxidants | Protect the vulcanizate against heat and oxidative ageing. | MBI, MMBI, ZMMBI, NDBC |
| Blowing agents | Generate gas to create sponge and closed-cell rubber. | Azodicarbonamide grades, OBSH 75E, TSH 75E |
| Flame retardants | Improve the fire performance of rubber products. | ATR 90CPE, ATR 80E |
| Adhesion promoters | Improve rubber-to-fabric and rubber-to-metal bonding. | HMT 80E/80NR/80SBR, Resorcinol 80 |
Rubber vulcanization additives
Vulcanization additives are the heart of any cure system: sulphur or a sulphur donor, zinc oxide as activator, and one or more accelerators, sometimes with a retarder for processing safety. Getting these evenly dispersed is critical – poorly dispersed curatives cause under-cured spots, blooming and inconsistent properties. Supplying them as predispersed masterbatches removes much of that risk. Read more in our guide What is vulcanization? or see our sulfur masterbatch and insoluble sulphur range.
Why choose predispersed rubber additives?
- Improved dispersion and more uniform physical properties
- Accurate, repeatable weighing with fixed active content
- Dust-free handling – fewer chemical exposure and contamination issues
- Faster incorporation and shorter mixing cycles
- Binders matched to your polymer: EPDM, NR, SBR, NBR or CPE
Applications
Our rubber additives are used in automotive parts, tyres, cables, conveyor belting, hoses, flooring, inflatable goods, shoe soles, closed-cell rubber products and rubberised fabrics.
